On this auspicious occasion of Great Victory Day, we gather to commemorate the unprecedented victory of 16th December on behalf of “Karnaphuli Foundation”. It is a day etched in the annals of history, a day that echoes the valor, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of a nation.
On this day in 1971, the people of Bangladesh triumphed against all odds in their quest for freedom and independence. The liberation struggle, characterized by resilience and determination, reached its climax when the Pakistani military surrendered to the joint command of the Bangladesh Liberation Army and allied Indian forces. As a result, a sovereign state of Bangladesh was born.
